Purgatory
Performance_2021
The performance 'Purgatory' is based on the idea to inspire the visual elements and connect the moral aspects of oppression and liberation. The performance explores a dilemma, intertwining the themes of money (reality) and morality. It drew inspiration from Iris Van Herpen's F/W14 collection and Dante's 'Divine Comedy.' In our performance, we visually represent the commodification of human beings, drawing from the concept of vacuum-packing. Additionally, it incorporated a quote from 'Divine Comedy,' specifically, 'There is no greater sorrow than to be mindful of the happy time, in misery, and that thy Teacher knows,' spoken by Francesca. This quote adds depth to our characters' dilemmas."
